Peringatan tsunami dikeluarkan untuk Hawaii, Alaska dan pantai Pasifik AS.
Dilansir dari APTN dan NOAA, Gambar satelit menunjukkan letusan besar, dengan gumpalan abu, uap, dan gas naik seperti jamur di atas perairan Pasifik.
Menurut pejabat setempat tidak ada laporan segera mengenai cedera atau tingkat kerusakan karena semua konektivitas internet dengan Tonga terputus.

Sebelumnya sebuah gunung berapi bawah laut yang meletus Sabtu di Samudra Pasifik dekat Tonga.
Letusan tersebut memicu peringatan tsunami dan evakuasi di sepanjang Pantai Barat AS.
Peringatan tsunami mendesak orang-orang untuk menjauh dari air dan jauh dari pantai dan saluran air.
Kantor Darurat Nasional Chili memerintahkan evakuasi beberapa wilayah pesisir, karena peringatan Tsunami kecil yang dilaporkan oleh Layanan Hidrografi dan Oseanografi Angkatan Laut (SHOA).
